How to use this calculator
Enter the serving count of the original recipe and how many portions you want. Add up to 20 ingredients with their original quantities and units. A quantity entered in grams stays in grams; cups stay in cups. Copy the scaled list or share the complete batch.
The formula
A worked example
Scaling a 6-serving recipe to 10 servings gives a multiplier of 1.6667. An ingredient listed as 300 g becomes 500 g.
Assumptions & limitations
Scales ingredient amounts proportionally. Cooking time, pan geometry, evaporation, spices, and leavening may require adjustment. It does not convert volume to mass or round indivisible items such as eggs.
Common questions
Can I scale down a recipe?
Yes. A target below the original serving count produces a factor below 1.
Do I multiply the cooking time too?
No. Cooking time rarely changes in direct proportion to the number of servings. Check doneness appropriately.
